This impressive Gothic cathedral is located on the shores of the bay of Palma. Before being a cathedral, it was a mosque dedicated to Medina Mayurca, which was demolished in 1229 to be dedicated to Santa Mar\u00eda.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><b>No doubt from the outside it will seem like an impressive period building, with many windows and rose windows<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (hence why it&#8217;s also called the Cathedral of Light) <\/span><b>but its interior will impress you even more<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Specifically, its main altar, designed by Gaud\u00ed, and its beautiful chapel decorated by Miquel Barcel\u00f3. It doesn&#8217;t matter if you&#8217;re looking for what to see in Mallorca in 3 days or 10, La Seu is a must.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In addition, the building has three entrance doors that you have to cross: the Portal del Mirador, the Portal Mayor, in the Renaissance style, and the Portal de l&#8217;Almoina, in which a statue of an angel with outstretched wings stands out. In the Balearic Islands, there are countless caves &#8211; more than 200 &#8211; but few of them are open to the public and perfectly adapted like these.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are four: the Cueva Negra (Black Cave), the Cueva Blanca (White Cave), the Cueva de Luis Salvador (Luis Salvador Cave) and the Cueva de los Franceses (Cave of the French). <\/span><b>Inside, you can see many stalactites and stalagmites, walk through its tunnels and also enjoy a small classical music concert<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, &#8220;Barcarole, Les Contes D&#8217;Hoffmann&#8221; composed by Jacques Offenbach. <\/span><b>You\u2019ll<\/b> <b>then get on a boat and cross one of the largest underground lakes in the world<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Lake Martel, which is 117 meters long, 30 meters wide and has a depth of between 5 and 12 meters (depending on the time of year). In addition, there are some turquoise-blue rock formations at the bottom of the lake that you have probably never seen before\u2014they\u2019re incredibly bright.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Keep in mind that there is a very high concentration of humidity in the cave. Ideally, you should bring warm clothes and good shoes. The route is adapted, but it is still slippery. With this, you are ready to enjoy the Caves of Drach, one of those places that you have to see in Mallorca, straight out of a storybook. It\u2019s also one of those places that you have to see in Mallorca no matter what. <\/span><b>It has narrow cobbled streets, stone houses, coloured shutters and many well-tended gardens<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">; you will see lots of flowerpots and plants everywhere.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Although this charming town is famous for something else, for the <\/span><b>Cartuja de Valldemossa<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, an old monastery of the Order of the Carthusians that later became a hotel.
