Our holiday house "Sa Frontera" is located in the heart of the Orange Valley in Soller, also known as the Valley of Gold. The absolutely idyllic location offers us a lot of peace and serenity with a picturesque view up to Sóller's church "Sant Bartomeu". Since the 1990s, the Sóller tunnel (free of charge since 2018) has made it easier to drive to Palma and many other places on the sunny island of Mallorca without crossing the meandering mountain pass. The authentic narrow-gauge wooden train takes you from Sóller to the center of Palma, to the "Plaza de España". The 28 km long stroll through 13 tunnels and a breathtaking landscape is one of the most popular excursions on the island today. Sóller itself offers numerous bars and cafes on the main square "Plaza Constitución" as well as a cute tram that connects the city with the port. Other sights include the "Musuem Ca’n Prunera in Sóller" with a permanent exhibition worth seeing from artists such as Kandinksy, Picasso, Warhol, as well as the local artists Miquel Barceló and Francesca Martí. Saturday is market day in Sóller. The frenzy of buyers and dealers bring life to the otherwise quiet harbor town. A little tip: You can try the delicious "Angel d'Or" liqueur among many other local products and take it home as a souvenir. Our vacation home is the ideal starting point for hikers. The GR 221 long-distance hiking trail leads us through the Serra de Tramuntana, the route of the dry stone walls that crosses the harbor and town. The outside area of "Sa Frontera" with all its corners and niches is surrounded by citrus trees in abundance as far as the eye can see. From the garden you will be rewarded with a picturesque view of the entire valley, just the right holiday home for those looking for peace and quiet and excursion fans. In the garden by the salt water pool, you can relax on comfortable sun loungers, while others may prefer to explore the green surroundings. The covered barbecue area with authentic stone oven is ideal for barbecues with friends and family, even pizzas and homemade breads from this oven are quickly made and delicious.
The rustic impression is also retained in the interior of the house. On the ground floor there is an entrance hall that leads us to the right into the fireplace room with a sofa corner and satellite TV, and immediately afterwards you come into the fully equipped kitchen, which contrasts with a modern look. Plenty of freedom of movement and large work surfaces make cooking very pleasant here. The sleeping area is divided into 3 double bedrooms. The 2 shower rooms are modern and equipped with towels and hair dryers. Air conditioning and WiFi internet are basic features here. Sa Frontera is an Mallorcan old stone house which has been tastefully modernised so that it keeps its charm but is also functional. The layout is interesting with one bedroom on each of the first and second floors. There is also a living area which hsee more
Sa Frontera is an Mallorcan old stone house which has been tastefully modernised so that it keeps its charm but is also functional. The layout is interesting with one bedroom on each of the first and second floors. There is also a living area which has a bed. There is an extensive dining area outside which is permanently in the shade (v necessary). The house is surrounded by citrus trees and is very convenient for Soller. There are many paths near the house which make for pleasant walking, particularly in the evening.
We arrived rather later than expected and were welcomed with great warmth and efficiency by a member of staff from the agency as well as the owner who has also provided lots of information in the form of leaflets etc. We would certainly recommend Sa Frontera. It is suitable for families and mixed groups |

We may be a bit eccentric in that we like to cook a lot, rather than eating out every night. So a dishwasher would have been a bonus and I could imagine some clients being a little surprised that there isn't one. The kitchen is adequately stocked butsee more

The kitchen is adequately stocked but a few more glasses, plates and a wider range of pots and pans would help a lot.
I could also see some clients being a bit confused by the fact that electricity is extra. This isn't completely clear in the correspondence and should be more clearly spelt out. It might help to give an idea of an 'average' weekly bill, otherwise clients might live in fear of having a massive bill at the end on the holiday. We didn't but we have never had to pay for electricity before and we have stayed in a lot of places in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal etc. |
